Wickhambrook Summer Litter Pick - 9th July

SPRING LITTER PICK
Many thanks to everyone who turned out this morning, Sunday 5 March, and I am sorry that we had cancelled the event on health and safety grounds due to the bad weather. It was actually a much calmer day later but too late for our decision making. A re-scheduled date will be published in the usual way but thank you again for your support.

Village Notices

Bury Road playground
The small playground on Bury Road in the Clopton area has been the responsibility of Havebury Housing. Havebury does not have the expertise within the organisation to check and maintain the play equipment on a regular basis and have suggested that the small fenced area be gifted to the Parish Council.

New equipment, swings, a rocker cum see saw and safety tiling, has been installed and a RoSPA certificate has been issued. The handover will take place in the near future.

We need someone who lives locally to inspect the area on a regular basis, say once a week, and note if there is anything of concern. If that person is willing to give a verbal report at the Estates Meeting, held on a Tuesday every second month, so much the better. The next meetings are on 10th April and 12th June. Monthly playground inspections will be carried out by Borough staff and an annual visit will be made by an independent professional. Any volunteers? Please contact the Parish Clerk on 01440 821861 if you are willing to give it a try.

Dog Bag DispensersDog Fouling

Over the last few months residents may have noticed a few additions being placed in and around the playing field as the parish council in conjunction with St Edmundsbury Borough Council have been trialling some new methods to tackle dog fouling issues.

Dog bag dispensers have been installed on the fence near the play area entrance and near the track on the side of the memorial hall, new permanent and temporary signage has also been placed around the field and a decline in the amount of dog fouling incidents on the field has been noticed.

Thank you to those responsible dog owners who continue to ‘bag it and bin in’ and those of you making use of the bag dispensers when you realise that you have no bags when you need them! If you or anyone else have any comments or feedback to make regarding these new measures or any other suggests regarding dog fouling please send them to : andrew.harvey@westsuffolk.gov.uk

We are keen that all responsible people who make use of the playing field and the facilities provided report any incidents of dog fouling they witness so that further enforcement action can be taken. If you witness an incident please contact St Edmundsbury on (01284) 763233 customer.services@westsuffolk.gov.uk
