by Wickhambrook Parish Clerk
The recipient of the Biscuit Barrel in 2020 for services to Wickhambrook is Mr Roger Merry.
The 2020 award went to Roger Merry and although the Parish Council was not able to make the presentation at the Parish Meeting this year, here is a lovely photo of Roger having received the Biscuit Barrel from the Chair, John Barton, over the garden fence (all social distancing guidelines were observed!!).
Roger is a lay member of the Parish Council’s Estates Committee and looks after the Parish’s play areas. He has been instrumental in bringing the damaged play fort at the Cemetery Road playpark back into use. Thank you Roger for all your hard work and support of the parish.
Roger, accepting the award said:
“Thank you all very much for this honour. I am sure that past recipients have been more worthy. I do enjoy voluntary and community work and helping out where I can, ranging from safety in play areas to footpaths and work on the Greens. It is very satisfying to help out in the local Community, not just for the PC but also volunteering for Suffolk Wildlife Trust and on the Committee of West Suffolk Beekeeping.
Thank you once again”
The Biscuit Barrel award is held for one year with Roger Merry’s name now added to the long list of worthy previous holders.
