Keep the Heat event poster
Hello, we’ve received information about an event run by Green Ixworth on November the 16th 2024 at Ixworth Village Hall.
This event is called Keep the Heat. Green Ixworth is partnering with Suffolk Climate Change Partnership (SCCP) and West Suffolk Council to provide a community energy event covering Western Suffolk to promote better insulation and energy efficient devices. This event will be the chance for residents to ask questions about their own energy situations and address the following:
- Insulation
- Heat pumps
- Alternatives to heat pumps
- Solar Power and batteries
- Electric vehicles and charging
- Listed and conservation area buildings
- Grants, loans and subsidies
Wickhambrook Parish Council has registered to take part in the Thermal Imaging Project hosted by Suffolk County Council under its Climate Change Partnership.
What is the Community Thermal Imaging Project?
For the third year in a row, the Suffolk Climate Action Team are running ‘Keep the Heat’, a project which enables Community Groups and Parish/Town Councils in Suffolk the free use of thermal imaging equipment to carry out heat loss surveys in their local community.
Thermal images can show where additional insulation is needed (wall, lofts, draught proofing etc), and help households save money on their energy bills, stay warmer and reduce their carbon footprint.
The project runs from November 2024 to April 2025 as it needs to be at least 10°C warmer inside than out.
Since winter 2022, communities across Suffolk have surveyed more than 1,660 homes over 355 weeks, and for the 2024-25 we want to double this number.
We are hoping to be able to borrow the cameras and carry out Thermal imaging in the parish in late March. The images would then be available to home owners to assist with assessing how they can make changes to improve insulation and apply for available grants. If you would like to participate in Keep the Heat, either as a volunteer, or having your home imaged, please complete this short form so that I can keep you updated.
