A note from your Clerk…Anglian Water – new water pipeline

7th September 2022 | Parish Clerk Report

I’ve received information below from Anglian Water regarding their planned new pipeline for development in 2023.

As you are aware, we’re planning a project to install a new 6.5km water pipe between Hundon reservoir and Great Wratting water treatment works. The pipeline is just one part of an interconnected network of pipes we are constructing across the region, as set out in our Water Resources Management Plan so everyone has access to safe, clean, and plentiful water for years to come.

Since you heard from us last, we have brought in an additional delivery partner to construct the pipeline and construction is now being planned for 2023.

We’re currently in the design stages of this project, before we begin, we need to carry out some trial and boreholes. These investigative digs will help us understand the ground conditions and expose any existing underground utilities we’re not already aware of. The results from this work will help us decide the best technique to install the pipe.

This investigation work will start today 05 September 2022 for three weeks, in the locations shown on the map. We aim to reduce disruption to pedestrians and traffic as much as we can, we have planned our investigative digs to take place within fields and private land.

After we complete this initial investigation work, we’ll know more about what’s underground. This will enable us to finalise our design and plan our work. Once we’ve done this, we’ll be in touch to let you know our plans.

As I mentioned we are still in the design stages for the project, but I would be more than happy to arrange a meeting with yourselves and members of our project team to discuss this project in more detail and answer any questions you may have.
