We have received the following information from Anglian Water:

“The Greens”- Water Network Improvement Scheme

We know that there has been a high burst rate on the existing main causing low pressures and interruptions to supply.  To put this right, we are investing £850k to install approximately 5.3km of new water pipeline. This will mean a more consistent water supply to you and your neighbours.

This work is expected to take place in September 2019 for approximately 16 weeks.

What this means to you and your community

Our work will begin in Hargrave at the junction of Ousden and Bury Road. We will continue along Wickhambrook Road until Great Knowles Green where we will replace a section of pipe in private road.

The pipeline will continue to the Wickambrook Road/ Baxters Green Junction and along Baxters Green until Lady’s Green. Our final connection will be made in the verge off The Street, Lidgate near the entrance to Leys Farm.

To avoid additional disruption to our customers we have ordered our works so that we can connect services as we progress.

Traffic management

To allow us to carry out our work safely, the following traffic management will be in place:

  • Junction of Bury Road and Ousden Road– 3 way traffic lights
  • Wickhambrook Road– traffic lights
  • Privately owned Road in Great Knowles Green– Road Closure
  • Baxters Green- Road closure-
  • The Street Lidgate ( B1063 ) – Traffic management likely

Dates of the above are yet to be confirmed and I will update you once these have been granted. However, advanced warning signs will be put in place two weeks before we start these closures to provide notice of our works.

Access to residents, businesses and the emergency services will be maintained where possible and there will be a clearly signposted diversion route in place at all times.

When we come to make connections to properties, there will be a short interruption to supply. This will be for no longer than 3 hours and residents will be notified in advance of this.

Working with you

We are always keen to work alongside stakeholders to keep impact to a minimum and where possible, we will make arrangements to facilitate your needs.  I would be grateful if you could share any potential events/ work in your area that could conflict with our scheme.

Getting involved

We always look to start early engagement with the communities in which we work. This allows us to identify any opportunities with the people that know the area best.

Being socially responsible is a top priority for us; it supports and promotes the well-being of everyone in our region, benefitting customers, employees, investors, business partners and the wider community.

The main areas we are keen to get involved in are: community volunteering, education and environmental opportunities. If you have any upcoming, local events that meet this criteria, please get in touch and let us know how you feel we could support you.

For more examples of the kinds of things we get involved in, please see the link to our website below.
