We had all heard of the Animal Health Trust at Lanwades Park near Newmarket, but no one was exactly sure what went on there. Andrew Simmons, from the Trust, soon put that right. Everything that they do is for the health and welfare of animals, from treating them after referrals from local vets, to research into illness and breeding. We were surprised to learn that racehorses are not their biggest customers, but of course the horses have a hospital of their own now. The trust have the latest equipment, including x-ray machines, CT and MRI scanners, and patients are seen very quickly, often the day after referral, making some of us think that they get better treatment than humans!
Andrew was thanked by Kay McEvoy.
