On 27th April 2019 a very successful meeting was held at Hundon Village Hall with Bob Flowerdew speaking on the subject of ‘No Work Gardening’. It was run jointly by Hundon, Cavendish, Wickhambrook and Clare Horticultural Societies. Bob gave a tongue-in-cheek and very entertaining talk, heavily laced with humour.

He was very cynical about how advice to gardeners had originally developed, largely based on the experiences of head gardeners on Great Estates, which he obviously felt was totally inappropriate to today’s gardeners, with small plots, much less time and without an army of workers. His own interesting and eccentric takes on how to garden came to the fore.

It is planned to run another such joint event in April next year, again with a well-known speaker, probably Nick Bailey, who has written many gardening books and appears regularly on Gardeners World, but we will let you know when it is confirmed. The tickets will be available soon and the event will be advertised on this website, so hurry up and buy a ticket as early sales will help us with our budgeting. In the meantime another joint talk by Tom Hart-Dyke, the plant hunter will take place on Saturday 26th October, for more details see event details here. Again we would like this to be a sell-out so get your tickets now.
