Hello Everyone

With the playing season now well under way the weather has been particularly kind mostly being dry for the Club sessions (10.30 a.m. start Tuesday and 2.30 p.m. Sunday for those who wish to come along) with enough rain in between for the watering system not to have been deployed so far.  The after-school club run by the Wickhambrook Primary Academy each Monday at the green has not had rain stop play to date!  The after-school club has been running for several weeks now and it is great to see the youngsters getting to grips with a new sport.  The group are taught by Mr Matthew Thompson, a teacher at the school and a keen bowls player, who shares his enthusiasm for the game as well as his knowledge.

Tesco Groundworks has written to confirm an award of £1000 to the Bowls Club and this will be spent, in accordance with the bid, on a new cylinder mower.  Thank you to everyone who shopped at Tesco in Haverhill and added their blue voting tokens to the Bowls Club bid.

The Wickhambrook Carnival Committee has kindly given permission for the green to be open on carnival day to anyone who wishes to have a go!  The green will be manned from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and club members will be on hand to give assistance if required.  The Club recently took delivery of two sets of junior bowls suitable for children of 8+ years.  We ask that any children visiting the green are accompanied by an adult and please remember that flat shoes are required.  We hope to see you there but please ring Charles on 07881 610138 if you wish to visit the green to try your hand at bowls at any other time.  There is also more information about the Bowls Club on the Wickhambrook website.
