Hello Everyone
With the end of the season drawing near it is time for the Club to look back, see where we are now and make plans for the 2020 season.
It has been a busy year for the Club with the installation of the portaloo, repairs to the benches and shed and applications for funding to enable the Club to financially support these changes – meanwhile there is always the green to cut each week! The maintenance of the grounds having been adopted by Wickhambrook Parish Council and added to the village contract this year has been a huge help to the Club. The contract is currently held by a local firm who have done a wonderful job all year. The whole area looked immaculate when it was opened on the afternoon of the Wickhambrook Carnival and we were able to welcome many visitors to try their hand at bowls for the first time or to re-kindle the sport. It was great to see such interest from adults and children alike and the photo is of the green that afternoon. Thanks to the Carnival Committee for allowing us to be part of the day.
After a successful first season the after-school club run by Wickhambrook Primary Academy is planned to be repeated next year. We look forward to welcoming the children back again to the green as we really enjoyed hosting this club and hope that they had as much fun as we did!
Please ring Charles on 07881 610138 if you wish to visit the green to try your hand at bowls. There is also more information about the Bowls Club on the Wickhambrook website.
