Did you know that in 1942, a German plane came down in Spring Wood, Genesis Green, near where the mast is now?

The crew gave themselves up to Bill Frith, a local gamekeeper , whose only weapon was a pitchfork , and they were taken to RAF Stradishall and given a meal. The plane was later exhibited in Norwich.

The incident was witnessed by Mrs Catherine Rosemary Cutting, nee Eade, whose family lived at Rookery Farm until the 1990s. Her many papers and collection of local history are being sorted out before being sent to the Suffolk Record Office.
