CORONAVIRUS - Re-opening of play areas in Wickhambrook
Dear Parents
Following our risk assessments, our play parks are now open. We’ve had to take some pieces of equipment out of use, either because it would be difficult for the children to maintain social distancing whilst using it, or because it would be difficult for parents and guardians to adequately sanitise the equipment before your children use it. These will be marked clearly with tape.
We’re asking to you to consider other families by limiting your visits to one hour at a time, to ensure that everyone has some time to enjoy the play, and at the same time ensure that social distancing is maintained as far as possible. We’re also asking you to bring your own hand sanitiser and wipes, and to wipe the equipment items down before your children use them and/or ask your children to wipe their hands with sanitiser before they use the play equipment. Please take personal rubbish home with you where possible.
We hope that this helps and provides you with a measure of re-assurance that we’re doing everything we can to ensure that children of the parish can play and socialise safely after the long period of social isolation, and that in this way we can avoid an increase in community transmission.
Everything to do in the Village for the young generation. We have excellent facilities and activities available for the children in Wickhambrook.
The Playground and other facilities can be found at the MSC recreation fields.
The Parish Council maintains the children’s play area on the recreation ground, where a selection of swings, slides, climbing frames and roundabouts can be found. We also have a facility known as The Teen Project which provides a Skate, BMX and Sport Park.
All Sports and Skatepark
The ‘all-sports’ area provides an all weather surface with a goal and basketball ring and a tennis practice wall.
As well as ball games, the area can be used by new skaters who want to gain experience before venturing onto the skatepark, or who want to practice skate-dance etc., and for other interests such as remote control car racing.
The skatepark / BMX / Sports Park was officially opened 31st January 2004.
