by County Councillor Mary Evans
There is a new project being launched to help small to medium local businesses apply for innovation grants. The scheme is being run jointly by Suffolk and Norfolk County Councils to help businesses develop skills in writing stronger bids to access money from a variety of innovation grant funding and related schemes.
East of England businesses have been awarded £638m of Innovate UK funding in the last 15 years. But of this total, Norfolk and Suffolk businesses have received just £45.9m, which equates to 7.2%. These startling statistics led Suffolk and Norfolk County Councils to join forces and devise a programme to help local businesses access a significantly higher percentage of the available funding. Any small to medium sized business owner or manager, including micro business owners and sole traders, is invited to attend the online launch meeting to find out more.
Attendees will meet professional mentors and hear from a business that’s already benefited from innovation funding.
