Easing of lockdown starts today

From today the Government have put into force the next phase of easing the lockdown in England.

The following activities are now permitted:

  • Gatherings outdoors (including in private gardens) with either 6 people (the Rule of 6) or 2 households
  • Outdoor sports facilities can reopen such as tennis and basketball courts, and open-air swimming pools
  • Organised outdoor sport can resume, including team sports like football, rugby, hockey and cricket
  • ‘Stay at home’ rule has ended. However, you should ‘stay local’

Despite the end of the ‘stay at home’ rule people should continue to work from home where they can and minimise the number of journeys they make where possible, avoiding travel at the busiest times. Travel abroad is still prohibited, other than for a small number of permitted reasons, such as for work.
