Once a year the monthly meeting is handed over to the members with the idea being to give the committee a break from organising and running the meeting. This can sometimes be a foolhardy undertaking as we never know what to expect! In the event this year’s Members Meeting turned out to be a decorous affair.
The stand-in President and Secretary took the business part of the meeting and then we were treated to a display of flower arranging by a young local resident of Wickhambrook. Julie Little has only been running her business, “ BROOK OF BLOOMS” for a short while after completing a course on floristry at Cambridge. She combines this with working two days a week at a florist in Newmarket.
Julie produced three different displays, a table centre piece, a hand-tie and a basket arrangement. She explained the use of oasis and tricks to maintain a balanced arrangement. The three completed items were then put into the raffle and the members were all keen to be one of the winning tickets!
Refreshments of tea, coffee and cakes made by the members completed the evening.
