Wickhambrook WI hosted a lively concert by the Ukulele Band of Bury St Edmunds on Saturday 29th October in the WI Hall. The band has played at the hall previously and two of our members were so taken with the idea of playing the ukulele that they subsequently joined the group! With this in mind it was lovely to see our two ladies playing at the concert.
We were all given song books to encourage the audience to sing along as the band played. We found ourselves singing along to John Denver, Bob Dylan, the Rolling Stones, the Beatles and the Beach Boys to name a few. During the interval a hearty Ploughman’s Supper was served together with tea and coffee, all provided by the ladies of Wickhambrook WI.
After supper the band played more tunes until the concert ended with a rousing encore! Everyone agreed it was an enjoyable and stimulating evening of entertainment.
