by Wickhambrook Parish Clerk
Wickhambrook Parish Council has one Vehicle Activated Sign and shares another with Lidgate. There are seven sites around the village which the signs can be mounted on, and they are left in place usually for a week to 10 days. The information is downloaded when the signs are moved to another location, and by identifying key sites and times when speeding in the village is significantly higher, and making this information available to Suffolk Constabulary, they are able to target their enforcement teams.
The latest results (from July to December 2019) show that this approach is resulting in effective enforcement against drivers who speed:
18 convictions on the main road through the village and 6 in Ashfield Green
Proof if needed that VAS does work!
Thanks go to Cllr John Barton who leads on this work.
