Crisp white tablecloths, scented red candles, an abundance of artistic greenery and tasteful place settings. It can only be the Wickhambrook WI Christmas party! This was held at the WI Hall on Tuesday 11th December and everyone turned up in their party clothes expecting an enjoyable evening. The food was provided by the committee which began with smoked salmon canapés and deep fried mushrooms which were served with a delicious glass of mulled wine or mulled tea. The main course was a choice of beef or chicken casserole with baked potatoes and vegetables. The committee members had produced a wide selection of desserts including trifle, tiramisu, cheesecake and meringues. For those who still had room there was even a selection of cheese and biscuits to round off the meal with tea and coffee.
The fun began once the meal was finished and members were invited to join in some traditional party games including pass the parcel, musical chairs, pin the tail on the donkey and a challenge to transport a 50 pence piece between ones knees across the floor to drop it into a glass! This game produced much hilarity! At the end of the evening the raffle was drawn and members left with a gift of a glass Christmas tree ornament. We all look forward to next year!
