December is traditionally the month for the Wickhambrook WI Christmas Party and this year was no exception.

The WI Hall was duly decked out in Christmas mode with committee members providing the festive fare. Arriving at the hall members were offered a glass of Prosecco or orange juice and some tasty canapés as a starter to the evening.

After exchanging Christmas greetings and cards, members found their seats for the meal to begin. The committee had provided a full turkey dinner with all the trimmings and lashings of gravy. Once the first course was over and plates were cleared, the desserts were brought out including trifle, bishop’s pudding, pavlova and cheesecake. All agreed the meal was a great success.

After tea and coffee had been served the entertainment for the evening was introduced.

Barrie and Nicky, father and daughter-in-law, are an act playing songs from the 50’s and 60’s. Going back to Elvis and Cliff Richard they worked through songs by Buddy Holly, Sam Cooke, the Everly Brothers, Motown music and the Beatles. Members needed little encouragement to get on their feet and have a “bop” to the catchy songs!

At the end of the evening each member was given a Christmas decoration to take home, made by the WI craft group.

Everyone agreed it had been a successful and fun evening.
