Suffolk County Council Highways have announced planned works to carry out drainage improvements – see below
For your information, we are planning to carry out drainage improvements along C676 Wickham Street Road, Denston and C659 Church Road and C659 The Duddery, Wickhambrook, as detailed below. The roads will be closed for 24 hours each day with a temporary 30mph speed restriction also in place to ensure that we can carry out our works safely.
Phase 1 (see south closure plan) – 6 March to 12 April 2023
Southbound closure – C676 Wickham Street Road, Denston
Diversion route – A143, B1063, Cemetery Road, Coltsfoot Green and vice versa
Phase 2 (see north closure plan) – 20 March and 12 April 2023
Northbound closure – C659 Church Road and C659 The Duddery, Wickhambrook
Diversion route – Lower Green, Plough Hill, Lower Street, High Street, Clare Road, Stansfield, Stansfield Road, The Street, Clare Road, Poslingford, B1063, A143 and vice versa.
Temporary 30mph speed restriction – A143 Bury Road, Stradishall (from Water Lane to Bury Road, Wickham Street), A143 Bury Road, Wickham Street and A143 Bury Road, Wickhambrook (from Bury Road, Wickham Street to Giffords Lane)
As we plan roadworks in advance, we schedule extra days to allow for bad weather or other delays beyond our control. If we need to make major changes to our work dates, we will update the information signs on site.
A plan showing the diversion route for these works is attached to this email. When we close the road and put a diversion in place, the route needs to be accessible to vehicles of all shapes and sizes. We make our diversions as clear as possible by placing appropriate signing along the route.
There may be times that essential emergency works are required to take place on the highway network without advanced notice – you can follow Suffolk Highways on Twitter for the latest emergency roadwork updates.
Our thanks to our County Councillor, Bobby Bennett, for escalating this issue on behalf of the parish.
