A note from your clerk – Thank you everyone who came along on Wednesday morning and helped with the hedge planting on Cemetery Road – a fantastic turnout!

I’ve had some recent request from residents both in Boyden Close and Thorn’s Corner about parking issues near the Surgery and the School.

Spring bulbs are starting to appear, and if you’re walking past the cemetery, you’ll see that the Cherry Trees planted last spring have their first blossom appearing. It’s still cold though, so don’t forget the Warm Winter Wednesdays being put on at the Women’s Institute Hall…

We’ve recently learned of the sad death following a short illness of Mary Evans , our former District and County Councillor.

Please pick up after your dog when they do a poop – don’t leave it for the next person along to tread in. There really is no such thing as a Dog Pooh Fairy!!

Sadly Sandy Thwaite has resigned as a councillor for Wickhambrook Parish Council. I’d like to extend our thanks on behalf of Wickhambrook Parish Council for her service over the past four years and wish her well for the future…

Our Footpaths Officer, Roger Medley, has logged a report on Suffolk County Council’s Report a Problem page about a damaged footbridge on Footpath 1 near Attleton Green (see map). Please avoid using this footbridge until it has been repaired.

I’ve just heard from Suffolk County Council that the new bus shelter for Cemetery Road will be installed next Wednesday, 10th January. There may be a little bit of disruption to the footpath and traffic in Cemetery Road whilst this is installed.

With thanks to our Suffolk County Councillor, Bobby Bennett, who approved a grant of £1000 from her locality fund, the Public Rights of Way team have now extended the planings to create an improved surface on Footpath 25, from Coltsfoot Green all the way to the bottom of the steps up to Six Acres…

Storm Babbett at the weekend brought an unprecedented amount of rain, resulting in flooding of many roads through out Suffolk. I’ve seen some images and video clips posted on the Community pages…

I’ve just been forwarded a booklet on Suffolk’s new policing model which will take effect in December of this year.

The trees are colouring up, the nights drawing in – I think autumn is truly here now! We were very fortunate with the weather for our October volunteer morning, and our wonderful volunteers completely cleared the Skate Park of weeds…

July was a busy month for meetings, with an Extraordinary meeting for planning preceding the Estates Committee on 8th July, and an ordinary meeting on 27th July…

We’ve just had some work done to the pond at Coltsfoot Green, tidying up the maple and lifting the crown, and removing some of the over hanging boughs, and also clearing out some of the silt so that the water collects a bit more…

Suffolkonboard has been awarded some Bus Service Improvement Plan + funding by the DfT and are now looking at how this can be best spent. One idea under consideration is restoring the 225/226 services between Newmarket and Haverhill that last ran in 2007 before budget cuts forced us to withdraw them…
