Twelve members and walking group friends spent an afternoon at Lackford Lakes Reserve in the company of Suffolk Wildlife Trust’s Will Cranstoun. In February Will gave a talk at the WI meeting so this was a follow-up visit and was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
The weather was beautiful and we were lucky enough to see many dragonflies, including the more unusual Emperor and the Banded Demoiselle. We were also thrilled to see a hobby swoop by while we were looking out over the water from one of the many hides. Two of the ladies were so impressed by the visit that they joined the Wildlife Trust there and then, and everyone enjoyed tea and cake to finish off a lovely afternoon.
An Autumn/Winter visit is planned.
